How To Pick Up A Bargain Vehicle At Your Local City Public Auto Auction
A City public auto auction can provide the ideal place for the discerning individual to pick up their next vehicle at a bargain price. These auctions have always been well enough known to people in the motor trade, but they are now becoming better known amongst the general populace. This is largely due to the plethora of modern business opportunity magazines who have been hyping them up as sources of stock for a business. It is easy to see why this happens. These auctions will always have freak lots, where the vehicle will be sold at a fraction of its true value.
When this happens, the magazines can take note of it, and genuinely quote it as an example of what can happen when vehicles are sold at city auctions. The fact that these examples are extremely rare, and certainly not common enough for anyone to base a business around, is conveniently overlooked. Despite this, there are enough examples of vehicles being sold at below market value for anyone interested in saving money on their next vehicle purchase to sit up and take notice.
These city public auto auctions are used by the authority to dump off vehicles which have had to be seized due to the non payment of taxes. In uncertain economic times, this will happen more often than ever before. In the past, it was mainly people who tried to love beyond their means who were affected by repossessions of this type. Now, we are seeing a different breed of person suffering loss of their vehicles. People who had managed their finances well up until the depression have lost their jobs, and are now unable to maintain the payments.
Many of the vehicles on offer at these auctions will be top of the range models, as these are the most likely to be bought by the type of people who have suddenly suffered a dramatic loss of income. Many of the exhibits will be nearly new, as people are always inclined to believe that their job is safe, and that the worst will always happen to someone else. It is possible to pick up a much higher specification of vehicle from these auctions than you would otherwise be able to afford.
Attending a city public auto auction for the first time can be a daunting experience, and it is not one for the faint hearted. The pace of the auction can be frantic, and if you cannot keep up you should not get involved yet! Make sure that you go along at least once just to get the feel of the auction. Paper trade, as you would if you were playing the stock market. Make a note of the vehicles you would have been interested in, and work out your maximum bid. Once you have calculated this, make sure that you stick rigidly to it. Discipline will be your greatest asset at a city public auto auction.
