How You Can Profit From Wholesale Auto Auctions, Even If You Are A Private Buyer

Wholesale auto auctions can be a great place for a business to pick up a fleet of vehicles with full color coordination at a lower price than you could find at a dealer. They can also, surprisingly, be a good place for a private individual to pick up one odd vehicle. Many of the auctions will have some lots which are sold individually. This can give the private citizen looking to pick up a cheap vehicle a rare opportunity. The individual will usually only be competing against professional dealers.

Wholesale car auctions have traditionally been attended only by members of the motor trade. There are rarely any specific rules preventing members of the public from attending, but there is often a requirement for some kind of trade identification. This requirement is easily met by printing off a cheap business card. Continual promotion by the business opportunity magazines has led to these auctions having a far higher profile. Also, many of the auctions themselves have created an online presence, which has helped raise their profile amongst the public.

A cheap car auction will sell a certain number of vehicles which have been put into auction by private individuals, but a great many of the vehicles will have come from commercial, or even government, sources. These vehicles will often have been seized as a result of non payment of loan repayments or taxes. In an economic depression, the number of these vehicles sent to auction increases dramatically. Many of these vehicles will be desirable models, and a lot of them will be in nearly new condition.

Cheap car auctions can be frightening and dangerous places for those who are unused to them. If you are not accustomed to the frenzied atmosphere of bidding, you would be well advised to attend an auction in the first place for no reason other than to become accustomed to the atmosphere. Make the dry run as realistic as possible. Study the vehicles closely, pick out the ones you would wish to bid on, and set a realistic figure at which you will pull out of the bidding. Make sure you stick to this figure in your mind. This will give you the discipline to be effective in a real auction situation.

Many of the vehicles in wholesale auto auctions will have been seized from commercial interests who were unable to pay the bills. Often, these vehicles will be well used, but there will be occasional opportunities to pick up a nearly new fleet of vehicles. If you are starting out in business, and need a fleet of vehicles, this could be one possible source, which will save you a considerable amount of money. If you are making a sizable investment in a fleet, make sure you take a qualified mechanic along to inspect the vehicles. Do this, and you could find a bargain at wholesale auto auctions.
